Our Story
Welcome to Moki Retreats where adventure meets mindfulness in City of Rocks! We are Sean and Amanda, two passionate explorers who found our calling in climbing and yoga. Our journey has taken us from towering rock faces to peaceful yoga mats, and now, we’re excited to share that journey with you.
Sean is an AMGA Single Pithch Instructor (SPI) certified guide, always eager to guide others through the thrill of sport and trad climbing. Amanda brings balance to the adventure, specializing in power yoga, yin yoga, and yoga therapy — helping climbers and outdoor enthusiasts reconnect with their bodies and minds.
And then there’s Moki – our lovable yellow lab and trusted travel companion. Her name, like our retreat, is inspired by the ancient Moki steps carved into the red rock landscapes by early travelers. (Though, between us, we may have slightly different stories about how our retreat name truly came to be!)
At Moki Retreats, we believe in the power of movement, nature, and community. Whether you’re here to push your limits on the rock, find stillness on the mat, or simply soak in the beauty around you, we can’t wait to welcome you to the adventure.
AWAKEN YOUR INNER WARRIOR!

Our Team

Amanda
yoga director
Yoga and climbing continue to be an open invitation to build community wherever I move and that community has inspired us to build a retreat. I’ve been practicing yoga for ten years, climbing for six, and teaching for three. In my yoga classes I begin with breath work as the foundation of my yoga sequences. The classes I offer are both complex and restorative. My approach is open, this is your yoga experience. You are welcome to modify, challenge yourself, lay on your mat, and do whatever feels right to you in the moment. My class motto: Yes you can.
“There’s nowhere to go, nowhere to be, just here.” -Unknown

Moki
Yellow Lab
I’m currently in retirement after spending 21 dog years as a wilderness therapy dog. I promise to be one of your favorite yellow labs ever. I offer an attachment to anyone willing to pet me. I will chill with you at the crag and practice on your yoga mat (I know down dog). I can’t wait to meet you, my new friend.
“Everybody thinks they have the best dog and none of them are wrong.” – W. R. Purshe

Sean
Climbing Director
As a child, I was the kid scared and crying in a two story McDonald’s play set due to my fear of heights. I always thought that I would never want to climb, which means I had to do it. Now, I’ve been climbing for seven years and have been professionally guiding in various activities for six years (sailing, backpacking, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking). I’m always honored to have the opportunity to teach people about my passions and see people push through barriers.
“Thou shall hike for 6 days but on the seventh day thou shall wash thy socks.” – Aldo Leopold
